Inside My AI News Dashboard

Automating Without Losing Control

Automation often gets framed as “set and forget.” But the best systems are the ones where you decide where to stay involved and where to let machines do the heavy lifting.

That’s the principle behind my AI News Dashboard.

Every morning, I wake up to a curated list of fresh AI news pulled from 10+ trusted sources. By 8 AM, my dashboard has filtered, summarized, and organized it all — so I only need 10 minutes to review, select, and add a final human touch.

This is how you scale without losing your voice.

The Bottleneck That Sparked It

Before building this system, I was stuck in the same trap as most content creators and founders:

  • Hours wasted scrolling for relevant news
  • Copy-pasting snippets across apps
  • Missing out on timely stories because manual curation slowed me down

The bigger problem wasn’t lack of ideas — it was the friction in the process. If your system makes it hard to publish consistently, your audience growth stalls.

That’s when I realized: curation itself needed automation.

The System I Built

selected

This dashboard runs on n8n + lightweight AI models and follows a loop that’s modular and easy to expand.

Step 1: Choose high-signal sources

Instead of drowning in 20 feeds, I selected high-value sources like TechCrunch, VentureBeat, and The Verge — then filtered by keywords such as “AI” and “automation.” This ensures every item has a high probability of relevance.

Step 2: Convert chaos into structure

  • Feeds arrive in XML (messy, unreadable)
  • Converted into JSON (clean, queryable)
  • Each item split into an individual article for processing

This one step saves hours of manual cleanup.

Step 3: Extract and enrich metadata

  • Titles, summaries, and image URLs automatically pulled
  • Articles stored in Supabase for easy retrieval
  • Every entry enriched with metadata (date, source, topic)

Now the database itself becomes a knowledge hub for content.

Step 4: Validate with lightweight AI

A small AI agent checks: “Is this article actually AI-related?” This avoids filler, keeps the list focused, and saves me from publishing irrelevant noise.

Step 5: Curate with intention

The dashboard presents a shortlist. Each morning, I choose 3–5 stories that align with brand voice and audience needs. This is where the “human in the loop” shines — automation narrows the field, I make the final call.

Step 6: Auto-format into content blocks

Selected articles are fed into GPT-5. Each becomes a structured news block with:

  • Title
  • Three key points
  • “Why this matters” context
  • Source link

By the time I hit “publish,” the content is already packaged for newsletter, LinkedIn, and even Medium.

Why This Works (and Scales)

  • Consistency unlocks growth → My first automated newsletter pulled in 7,200+ subscribers in 24 hours, with subscriber growth surging 669k in a week.
  • Systems free up creativity → Less time on grunt work, more time choosing stories that resonate.
  • Modular design = future-proof → Swap in GPT-5, Gemini, or Claude without rebuilding the workflow.

The big takeaway: automation doesn’t kill creativity — it clears the path for it.

Beyond Newsletters: The Bigger Picture

What I built for newsletters is just one application. The same dashboard + validation + auto-format loop applies to:

  • Social media content → Auto-curate posts across platforms
  • Sales enablement → Feed reps with industry updates packaged as insights
  • Internal intelligence → Real-time competitor and industry updates

When you stop thinking of automation as “tools” and start thinking in systems, your growth is no longer limited by manual effort.

From Chaos to Clarity

Before this system, curation felt like a burden. Now, it’s a 10-minute daily ritual that fuels audience growth, brand trust, and visibility.

The difference isn’t just efficiency — it’s clarity. And clarity compounds.
